Science decor addon has enough thematic stuff to arrange a lab or research facility. It was never meant to be practical, most devices have no other function than to fit in the room. Of course, some items could be placed in a bedroom as a general decoration. Something like flasks would look weird anywhere besides the lab or a mad scientist's room. Also, many items have variations in different positions or colors.

More than 40 items in total will show up in Minecraft if my calculations are right. Absolutely all of them can be made in survival mode. And don't forget to decorate your room for the upcoming holidays.
